What is happening to the Hawaiian Airlines Extra Comfort Product?

As part of our integration with Hawaiian Airlines, we are aligning our seat products to offer a more consistent and streamlined experience for guests across both airlines. To do this, we’ve decided to unify our extra legroom offerings under a single name: Premium Class.

While the name “Extra Comfort” will be retired, the benefits that Hawaiian Airlines guests’ have come to expect – like extra legroom and priority boarding – aren’t going anywhere. In fact, we’re enhancing the experience by adding complementary beer, wine, and cocktails on most flights over 350 miles.

The change to Premium Class will start on Hawaiian operated flights departing on/after April 22, 2026. Extra Comfort will remain on Hawaiian operated flights until then.

Yes. You can purchase an upgrade to Premium Class, either at the time of booking or any time before your flight and during check in.

Can I book a Premium Class set if I booked my ticket through another airline?

If you didn't book directly through Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines, you can purchase Premium Class seats three ways:

  • During online check-in (available 24 hours before your flight departs)
  • At the airport on your day of travel, speak with an Alaska or Hawaiian Airlines agent

How many free drinks can I get in Premium Class?

Guests seated in Premium Class who are 21+ may enjoy complimentary cocktails, beer, or wine on most flights over 350 miles. For the safety of our guests and crew members, we limit the number of alcoholic beverages that may be consumed. We will serve guests no more than two alcoholic drinks or one canned cocktail at a time. Just like on the ground, laws prohibit Flight Attendants from serving any guest who appears to be intoxicated. I am an Atmos™ Rewards status holder, and I book my tickets through a corporate travel agency. How do I access Premium Class?

Premium Class is currently only available for purchase at alaskaair.com and hawaiianairlines.com when selecting a seat. You can request that your travel agent purchase the seat using alaskaair.com or hawaiianairlines.com on your behalf.

¿Cómo obtengo un reembolso?

In most cases, seat upgrades are non-refundable. If you qualify for a refund, and it hasn’t automatically been applied, you can request one at the gate or by calling our customer care representatives after you have completed your entire trip.

You are eligible for a refund if:

  • You cancel your flight within 24 hours and booked at least 24 hours from the time of departure
  • You change your flight and purchase seat upgrades on your new flight
  • We cancel your flight and are unable to get you a comparable seat on another flight rebooked by us*
  • We delay your flight causing you to miss a connection and we’re unable to get you a comparable seat on your new flight*
  • You’re denied boarding on an oversold flight and are unable to get you a comparable seat*
  • We change our equipment type and are unable to get you a comparable seat*
  • *Unable to get you a comparable seat is defined as moving from a Premium Class to a Main Preferred or other Main Cabin seat.

¿Con cuánta anticipación puedo reservar un vuelo en Clase Premium?

Premium Class seats are available on select flights up to 330 days prior to departure.

Do I get complimentary Premium Class upgrades as an Atmos Rewards status level member?

Atmos™ Silver, Atmos™ Gold, Atmos™ Platinum, and Atmos™ Titanium members are eligible for free complementary upgrades to Premium Class, depending on the fare purchased.

Can I use Atmos Rewards points to purchase seat upgrades?

Upgrades are currently not available for purchase with points.

Can I purchase a seat upgrade in a different currency than USD?

Yes, but the seat upgrade currency will follow what the original ticket was purchased in. Additionally, agents at select airports will be able to accept digital payment in local currencies, starting in April 2026.

  • Upgrade purchases entitle the traveler to reserve a Premium Class seat or a Main Preferred seat in the Main Cabin. See aircraft seat maps for availability. While every attempt is made to fulfill a specific seat request, seat assignments cannot be guaranteed
  • Main Cabin paid upgrade seats on select aircraft types will be available for purchase at time of booking, post-book, or within 24 hours of flight departure during check in
  • Premium Class seats are complimentary for Atmos™ Rewards Status members based on tier status and fare purchased
  • Main Preferred seats are complimentary for Atmos™ Rewards Status members
  • If the Atmos™ Rewards Status member is no longer traveling on their original reservation, any companions traveling on the original reservation will no longer be eligible for the Main Cabin upgrade, and their seat assignment may be removed
  • Main Cabin paid upgrade seats do not grant complimentary entry to the Alaska Lounge
  • Upgrades are non-transferable and are only valid for the flight purchased. Valid on Alaska, Hawaiian, Horizon, and SkyWest operated flights only
  • Customers selecting exit row seats must meet exit row seating requirements
  • The use of seat belt extensions is not permitted in exit row seats
  • Lap infants are not permitted in exit row seats
  • Car seats are not permitted in exit row seats
  • Second seat guests are not permitted in the bulkhead or exit row seats
  • Actual legroom may differ slightly depending on the aircraft and seat
  • If a customer receives a complimentary upgrade to First Class, no refund will be granted for any main cabin seat upgrades
  • If a customer voluntarily changes his/her seat selection to a Main Cabin seat and stays on the same flight – there is no refund once purchased, regardless if it was a refundable fare
  • If a customer voluntarily changes his/her flight once purchased, a refund for the original seat purchase will only be provided if a refundable fare was purchased, in which case the refund will be applied to the original form of payment
  • If a non-refundable ticket is cancelled, then both the ticket price and the seat upgrade fee will be credited to the customer's My Wallet for future travel. My Wallet funds may not be applied towards the purchase main cabin seat upgrades
  • We reserve the right to assign or reassign a passenger who has paid for a Main Cabin upgrade at any time, even after boarding of the aircraft, for operational, safety, security reasons, or at an agent's discretion
  • Reassigned customers are eligible for a refund if they are not moved to a comparable or better seat in the upgraded seating area
  • Main Cabin seat upgradesare subject to cancellation
