How does free texting work?
- Enable Airplane mode.
- Connect to the “Alaskawifi.com” network.

- Choose the “free texting” option.
A few things about our free texting:
- No purchase is required and no texting or data charges apply.
- Free texting works with iMessage, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, Google messages, and WhatsApp. One of these apps must be added to your phone before you fly. To receive texts, the people you are texting must use the app too.
- Inflight texting doesn’t support sending photos, videos, or SMS messages.
- If you’re on a flight with heavy Wi-Fi usage, and your text doesn’t send right away, wait a few minutes, and try sending again.
- Free texting is only available on flights with inflight internet. For more information on where inflight internet is offered, visit our Wi‑Fi page.
