Approximately a 90-minute drive south-east of the city, Mount Rainier National Park is home to the impressive active volcano of Mount Rainier, which ascends to a staggering 14,410 feet above sea level and is an icon of the Washington landscape. Located in such close proximity to the Canadian border, visitors to Seattle would be remiss not to spend some time heading north of the border. Vancouver can be reached in just two and a half hours via the I-5 N and is one of Canada's most exciting cities. Indeed, it offers thriving arts, theatre and music scenes, while Stanley Park is North America's third-largest public open space and attracts more than eight million visitors each year.
One of the area's most breathtaking natural attractions, Mount St Helens is around a three-hour drive south of the city, making it a perfect day trip destination to make the most of a Seattle car rental.
